We are enjoying every summer experience we can pack in to this week! Yesterday we met Meadow and her family to go swimming in an outdoor pool. It was a little windy and overcast so it was a short swim - with chattering teeth near the end!
Today Helayna and I went to the Valley Zoo. Once you've visited the world famous Calgary Zoo, this one is just a little operation but we found things to occupy us for a few hours.
She was amazed that it looked like a castle. As we were leaving, she wanted to close the big doors and lock the castle!
I remember this Humpty Dumpty statue from the time when our kids were little. Helayna thought he was pretty cool - and a bit overwhelming at first.
The train ride was a definite hit! We rode in the giraffe car.
And the picnic area had a wooden train set up as tables - which was almost as good as the real train for this two year old!
Then there was the merry-go-round. She was so brave and not the least bit afraid as her horse went up and down, around and around.
Her only question about animals was "Is there an elephant?" And she was delighted and very surprised to hear that the elephant's name was Lucy - just like one of her friends! We had a great afternoon together - not too busy, not too crazy, just a whole bunch of exploring.
You guys are doing lots of adventurous things this week. What a fun afternoon for just the two of you. Heather and I were talking about how much we enjoyed going to Grandma and Grandpa's for a week each summer and what great memories we have of it. It's a great tradition to start.
ReplyDeleteLucy loves that elephant too! :) Looks like you guys are having so much fun!!! Enjoy all that grandma time!
ReplyDeleteOh, those photos make me miss her so much. Sigh... I'm so glad she can be with you guys and have so much fun. Thank you for taking her and doing these fun things with her. They are wonderful memories for sure.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun. Thank you for the sneak peek of the Edmonton zoo, we are going to check it out this week while Ken marks achievement tests again. Looks like you guys are having lots of fun together. Love the sandbox, there's something special about Grandpa's building a sandbox for their grandkids. My Dad built one last summer when they were here. With three boys it gets used lots. Enjoy the rest of your week!
