The beds are made, the fridge is full, the trailer is empty, boxes are stacked everywhere - and they are moved!! Heather said today that this makes the 16th place they've lived in - in the past 10 years!!! It's been a hectic month for them but they have a new place to call home and are still close to friends and all the places they know and love.
And I have resolved to go home and start throwing out / giving away / purging at our house! We've lived in the same house for 32 years - I cannot imagine how long it would take to pack up if we were moving!!!
Oh heavens, I know that feeling well. I am going to start on my place too. Way too much stuff. WAY too much.
ReplyDeleteYeah!! I'm so glad you were able to go down and help with it all. I'm sure it'll take a few days for them to get everything sorted out and put away. I'm still working away on the bedrooms here.
ReplyDeleteHappy purging, giving and sorting. It's a lot of work, but you really feel a sense of accomplishment after you're done.
I had to help my mom move after 20+ years and learned to throw things away after that. Now, I probably pitch more than I should.
ReplyDeleteIt's so funny Crystal--we have been having this very same conversation in the last few days. I believe moving will be in our 5-7 year future, since Brian's commute is very long. But just talking about it makes us want to start paring down! I can't believe how much we've accumulated in just 5 years here. And I tend to think of ourselves as 'simple people!'

Wow, Heather has me beat by a mile!! I thought we were bad - we have lived in 6 houses in 15 years. Not too bad I guess... Glad to hear they are all settled in.
ReplyDeletewow! 16 places in 10 years! That's crazy! Hopefully they will be able to stay at this place for awhile. I don't think my parents miss those days of helping me move at all and I actually didn't have much stuff back then. Lucky for Heather that they had your help!
ReplyDeleteoh i'm glad to hear it worked out! I've been thinking about her all weekend! (that's a whole lotta moving!!)
ReplyDeleteHi there!
ReplyDeleteMe and the kids have recently moved to much smaller accomodations than I am used to, and have so much "good stuff" that we just don't have the room or use for. A friend from work told me about freecycle.org where you cn post things that are still usable but woudl be a waste to put into a landfill. i have signed up and will eb donating a bunch of my scrapbooking stuff. I am hoping to find someone with a chain saw and a truck who will help me acquire some firewood for our woodstove that is in our new place. If you have stuff to get rid of during your purge, you should go on there.
