Simple Woman #19

For Today . . . December 8, 2008

Outside my window . . . it's snowing - great big fat flakes - and lots more is predicted for overnight but then tomorrow afternoon it will turn to freezing rain as a warm front moves through!

I am thinking . . . that it's only 2 weeks until Melinda and Tyler come home!! I have many things to do before then!!

I am thankful that . . . God hears my prayers and provides healing where it is needed

From the kitchen . . . ham and mushroom pizza, a batch of cranberry almond granola, more poppycock and a pot of sunshine lemon rooiboos tea

I am wearing . . . black warmup pants, a pumpkin turtleneck sweater, a brown/black vest and slippers (seems to be my Monday uniform!)

I am reading . . . Lulu in Marrakech by Diane Johnson

I am hoping . . . to finish another cute sewing project tonight and move on to the next thing on my long list

I am hearing . . . logs crackling in the fireplace and the kettle boiling

I am creating . . . many top secret Christmas gifts!

Around the house . . . I put the creche up on the fireplace yesterday and have more Christmas decorations to unpack

One of my favourite things . . . is getting Christmas letters, cards and pictures in the mail - we've gotten 3 so far and 2 had lovely pictures of young families (thanks, J & M and B & C)

A few plans for the rest of the week . . . presents to wrap, shopping to finish, Christmas pictures to pick up at Costco, women's program at our church, 2 days of substitute teaching, Christmas in the barn celebration at our neighbor's and snow to shovel!

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you . . . .

an ornament that Heather made for our tree.
I was going to show you our creche but Bob has absconded to Airdrie with both of the camera cords, I think!

There are more daybook entries to read over at The Simple Woman. Enjoy!
And I apologize that the Simple Woman logo is missing - Blogger will not pick it up tonight - urghhhhh!

  1. A lovely peak in on your day, Crystal.

Yes, I did get the Willow Tree Nativity main part - Mary and Jesus, Joseph and the shepherd and animals half price! It was such an incredible blessing - I have wanted them for ages, and could not afford them, but I saw the set and blinked twice and had them paid for and in the basket. Sigh. The kings can wait for another year. They only turned up a few years after the birth anyway!I won't be buying the stable part - it is way too expensive for what it is. I will build my own stable!

  2. I'm curious about all these secret Christmas presents you're creating. Are they all sewing projects?
We are so excited to come see you. Tyler reminded me yesterday that it was only two weeks away. I need to figure out something about the car. What's Dad up to in Airdrie?
Sounds like winter and Christmas are upon you guys. Hopefully that freezing rain with disappear.

  5. Totally cool ornament! I made similar ones for my mom a few years ago. I took all her baby pictures and pictures of my grandfather (her father) when he was in the army and made them all into ornaments. Really fun to do and I loved the outcome.
