From Colonia, Uruguay

The main tour group left for home at 4 a.m. yesterday morning and we headed across the river to visit Uruguay later in the morning. We had a one hour ride on the Buquebus (pronounced Boo-key-boos) ferry ship and are checked into the charming colonial Posada Don Antonio. The courtyard is full of pottery urns filled with flowers and trees and there´s a great pool too. Colonia is a UNESCO world heritage site dating from the 15 and 1600´s. The streets are cobblestones and the buildings are old, old, old. It´s like time has stood still here! We explored the streets and wandered around, taking lots of pictures yesterday. Debbie and Lou Hesse from Washington State are here too and the guys have just gone to pick up a rental car so we can try driving and getting lost out in the countryside today.

The weather during this whole trip has been marvelous - sunny and around 25 - 28 degrees. We haven´t used our jackets at all and Bob´s been living in shorts. Going home to snow is going to be a real shock!

I wish I could show you some pictures but be prepared for photo overload when we get home.

Gotta go - the guys are here with the car! Take care!!

You are so adventurous. Renting a car! Wow. Hey just so you know and since we're talking about adventure, Easter is at Breton High, Saturday March 22 @ 2:00 sharp when the games begin. $10-$15 per person - not sure yet. We're counting that both you and Bob will be there and so we've assigned you to teams! Oh - it's Iron Chef Team Challenge!

  3. It sounds so great. Yah, going back to snow will be a shock. We're looking forward to seeing many more photos very soon. I'm sure you will have lots of history and info to share with us, which will be great as I don't know all that much about South America. Miss you lots. Oh, tell Dad I'm going to beat him to Africa after all. ;)
