Back in North America

After a long day of traveling on Saturday, we arrived in Miami at 7 a.m. on Sunday morning, We'd really just like to be home but with spring break, we aren't able to get a flight out until Wednesday. So meanwhile, we're enjoying some sun, the beach and exploring this city some more. It really is a beautiful place - I can see why people like to come here in the wintertime! I could make this an annual event quite easily, I think!

This is the garden that wraps around the pool at our hotel. I'll share more pictures soon.

It was a gorgeous Sunday in Miami Beach yesterday with brilliant sunshine, a calm ocean and lots of people on the beach. We went for a long walk on the boardwalk and then ploughed through the sand, trying to get to 'where the beach curves', in Bob's words. We walked for an hour and the curve was still ahead somewhere!

When we woke up this morning, the palm trees outside our window were blowing around and there's been a strong, strong wind all day. The waves are much higher with whitecaps and breaking surf pounding the beach today. It was still 80 degrees F but cloudier. These winds made us wonder what it's like when a hurricane is brewing out on the Atlantic.

And after 2 weeks of lugging around a laptop that wouldn't boot up, Bob splurged and bought this baby, right down on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach. He's a very good shopper when it comes to electronics for himself :)) Well, I helped just a little and we are both enjoying it already. Working with iPhoto was a challenge today but I learned alot in a short time!

  1. It can be so deceiving walking on a beach, hey? We did the same thing on Vancouver Island and never did get to the spot we wanted!
It looks so warm and nice there! Wish we were there with you!
I'll show you how things work in iPhoto. I am so excited you guys went with a Mac! YAY!

  2. The scenery is beautiful. I'm thinking this is what Egypt's going to be like. I'm glad your adventurous and go out exploring, even for electronics shops.
I think you're going to love that new purchase. Thanks for calling yesterday. Isn't it amazing how quickly technology has changed and how advanced it is. We're worlds apart and yet when have a phone call and video over our computers. Love it!

  3. Thank you for taking the time to stop by. I enjoy getting comments back.
Your photos are so beautiful and they sure do look warm. Here we had snow and freezing rain.
Do have a safe trip home.

  4. Florida is another place that I would like to visit....lucky you! Sure beats the snow that we have here!

    Bob and Crystal --

Thank you for writing this blog of our trip for me to use as a reference to my family and friends too :o)
It was a great tour and wonderful Uruguayan road tour adventure (thanks for letting us tag along!)
If I had known we would not be seeing you at the baggage claim in Miami we would have given appropriate goodbye wishes and hugs on the plane before we got off (altho as icky as I felt after 24 hours' air travel, maybe it was best to skip that part!)
Thanks for the pharmacy contributions too. It was good to meet you and travel together. I will check into the blog every once in a while and maybe will be inspired to write one of my own to keep in touch with our family too.
Best wishes and continued happy travels,
    Lou and Debbie Hesse
