Simple Woman #78

For Today . . .  March 1, 2010

Outside my window . . .  a bright, sunny and warm New York City Monday!  The city was covered in 14 - 20" of snow on Thursday and Friday and there were snowbanks everywhere when we arrived.  But by Sunday morning the sidewalks were dug out and yesterday most of it melted.  There was water running everywhere and we were quite warm in our winter jackets.

I am thankful . . .  for safe travels and happy reunions!

And I also am thankful . . .  for our son, who celebrates his 33rd birthday today.  It's very hard to believe  he is that old but when we consider all that he's experienced, it must be so.  We hope that he's had a great day!

I am praying . . .  for the earthquake victims in Chile.  So much need again.

I am thinking . . .  about seeing some special places in NYC this week.  This is an amazing city!

I am creating . . .
memories with our grandson, Samuel.  He is 9 months old now and so much has changed since July.  He's an active little guy and is sharing smiles with us already.

I am celebrating . . .
a new month and the coming of spring.

From the kitchen . . .  we ate at a great little pizzeria today.  Loaded veggie pizza with fresh mozzarella cheese - it was great!

I am wearing . . . navy cords, red sweater, black shoes and my Lisa Leonard necklace.

I am reading . . . Mark 9 - "Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me;
and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the One who sent me."
Yesterday's Promise  by Linda Lee Chaikin - still working on this one.

I am hoping . . .  to read the first chapter in our new Bible study book this week.

I am hearing . . .  Samuel's cute little sounds as he jumps away in the Jolly Jumper.

I am going . . . to make granola and homemade yogurt for Mel today.

Around the house and yard . . . lots of baby things like exersaucers, toys, books, and clothes in Mel and Tyler's apartment - and it's really well organized.  Mel is good with stuff like that!

One of my favourite thin
gs . . . spending time with our grandchildren and seeing their happy little personalities.

A few plans for the rest of the week . . .  UN tour and Broadway play, "In The Heights" tonight; Chinatown tomorrow; trip to Trader Joe's and babysitting on Wednesday; small group Bible study on Thursday; visit to Statue of Liberty on Friday; and lots and lots of time with the Green's.

A quote for today . . . "The strange thing was, the more he tried to push aside spiritual teachings he'd grown up with, the stronger the memories became."  Linda Lee Chaikin

Here is a picture thought I am sharing . .  .  NYC snowbanks on Sunday morning as we walked to church.

Thanks to Peggy at Simple Woman Daybooks for this great little daily living activity.

  2. Have a wonderful time with your daughter and her family, Crystal! Samuel has grown so big....and I know I keep saying this about your grandchildren, but the months seem to be flying by, and it always takes me by surprise. I can't believe he is 9 months old already. It seems just yesterday he was born. And now I sound like my Granny. I am off to bed. Have fun!
