Simple Woman #41

For Today . . . May 11, 2009

Outside my window . . . mostly sunny, +20 degrees Celsius, leaves breaking out, birds chirping, grass growing, beautiful spring day

I am thankful . . . that God has blessed me with the purpose of being a mother and grandmother

I am praying . . . that Melinda and the baby will have a smooth and safe delivery

I am thinking . . . that the retirement function on the weekend was a lovely gathering of colleagues and friends - and I'm glad the 'fanfare' is over!

From the kitchen . . . Rigatoni with Roasted Tomatoes and Beans (Canadian Living, May 2009), Greek Salad and Strawberries and Ice Cream.  I am so anxious for the rhubarb to start growing so I can bake with it!

I am wearing . . . dark brown pants, brown and white paisley tshirt, brown loafers - and no jacket today!!

I am reading . . . "A Heart for Nepal - The Dr. Helen Huston Story" by Gerald W. Hankins, M.D. - the biography of an Albertan medical missionary who  spent her life bringing medical care and the love of Jesus to people in rural Nepal.

I am hoping . . . to get my garden planted this week, although the forecast of rain and snow for Wednesday night is not too encouraging!

I am hearing . . . "Thy Word Is A Lamp Unto My Feet" on a Songs of Worship CD - such a great way to start the morning :))

I am creating . . . LOs of  the grandchildren - I'll show you later this week.

Around the house and yard  . . . windows to wash, lawn to mow and cupboard doors to wipe down.

One of my favourite things . . . Sunday afternoon drives with my husband.  We checked out an auction site for next weekend and drove to the Brazeau Dam yesterday.

A few plans for the rest of the week . . . 3 days of subbing this week, annual medical checkup, and lots of outside work.  It's a relatively quiet week, which is much needed!

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you . . . friends and colleagues from my school that shared the retirement function with me.  What a great group of people!!  The woman in the green dress standing beside me is also retiring this year.

  2. Enjoy this quieter week. I really do hope the spring weather stays and you don't get the expected snow. Yuck! It would be so nice to see flowers blooming and buds bursting in the next few weeks. ;)
We're doing well...still hanging in there. Thanks for your prayers; they are much needed and appreciated.
Congratulations on retiring! I'm sure it was great to see fellow colleagues and catch up a little without students or school politics. ;)

  4. Congratulations on your retirement, Crystal!

Your forecast sounds dreadful. I am glad that we are officially out of the woods where winter is concerned. The nights are cool and the days aren't too hot. Perfect spring weather.

I do hope you get your garden planted!

    XO
