Simple Woman #94

For Today . . .  July 9, 2010

After 90+ weeks of doing this post every Monday, I've decided to switch up the day of the week.  I was thinking of leaving the daybook and moving on but now when I go back to the early entries I'm intrigued by the memories that have been recorded.  So here goes again!

Outside my window . . . it's been hot and very sunny for the last 2 days but at least there's a breeze blowing today.  The forecast is for thunderstorms, which are very likely with the high humidity.

I am thankful . . . for summer sun and gorgeous long days.  The sun is rising just after 5 a.m. and setting just before 10 p.m.!

And I also am thankful . . .  for fresh vegetables from the garden.

I am praying . . . for safety as so many people travel during these months.

I am thinking . . .  about how to finish a sewing project - it's a surprise so I can't show you yet!

I am creating . . .   a scrapbook layout with 2 pictures of Samuel :)

I am celebrating . . . Melinda and Tyler's 6th wedding anniversary tomorrow.  I'm thinking alot about that time we spent in Nova Scotia too - good, good memories.  I wish they lived in Alberta :)

They are so good for, and to, each other.  Here they are working together to get the kite up and going.

From the kitchen . . .  shrimp and mushroom pizza - from the restaurant in town, purchased using coupons!  Each time you buy a pizza, they give you a coupon and when you collect 10 you can get a free one.  Tonight was the night!!  Oh, and fresh cherries and blueberries, from the Farmer's Market, for dessert.

I am wearing . . .  denim capris, a summery green top, and sport sandals.

I am reading . . .  John 7: 37 - 38 -  If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink.  Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him."

The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton - On her 21st birthday, Nell is told that she was found at 4 years old, abandoned on the docks in Australia.  She sets out to trace her real identity, which eventually leads her to the Cornish coast in England and her granddaughter, Cassandra, is left to solve the mystery after Nell dies.  The story jumps back and forth from the early 1900's to the 1970's to 2005 and is very well written.   This is our book club's August selection.

I am hoping . . .  to visit my sister and her husband this weekend.  I'm anxious to see pictures and hear stories about the quad trip.

I am hearing . . .  the Canadian Tenors singing "Hallelujah" - my current favourite.  Here they are on the Oprah show - when Celine Dion surprised them!

I am going . . . to visit friends next week - looking forward to that!

Around the house and yard . . .  some laundry to do for Naomi as her washer has completely died (and caused a major flood too), a floor to wash, plants to water outside and the soaker hose to move along the row of raspberries.

One of my favourite things . . .   fresh blueberries - I could eat them by the handful!

A few plans for the rest of the week . . .  visits this weekend, supper with friends, a Health Advisory Council workplan meeting, and the lawn to mow.

A quote for today . . .

What's the good of news if you haven't a sister to share it?
Jenny DeVries

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you . . . a row of hearts hanging in my garden!

  1. I had never heard of the Canadian tenors, Crystal - stunning. I have been listening to other songs by them on you tube this afternoon! Thanks for telling us about them.

It is so humid here - I am dripping again. Not good. But Monday should be cooler!
