Simple Woman #83

For Today . . .  April 5, 2010

Outside my window . . .  another warm and sunny spring day with a temperature of +10 degrees C.  There's a slight breeze and still a few lingering snowbanks in the shade along the north fence lines.  It is desperately dry and a good 2 or 3 day rain would be marvelous for the land.

I am thankful . . .  for the miracle of Resurrection and the new life that is ours because He died for our sins.

And I also am thankful . . .   for friends and family that can share special days with us.  And I always miss those who are away at these times.   

I am praying . . .   that I will be more like Jesus, welcoming and loving instead of judgmental and elitist.

I am thinking . . .   about what to write in letters to our Compassion sponsored girls.  I had news from both of them last week - happy mail indeed!

I am creating . . .   some cards this week.  I have lots of birthday cards to send out this month :))

I am celebrating . . .  my birthday in a few days!

From the kitchen . . .  leftovers!  Ham, scalloped potatoes, roasted asparagus, salad and lemon cream puffs.

I am wearing . . .  black track pants, blue tshirt, orange Roots half-zip sweatshirt and running shoes.

I am reading . . .  Luke 2:  The Birth of Jesus, ending with "Why were you searching for me?" he asked. Didn't you know I had to be in my Father's house?"

                           Reclaiming the "L" Word (Renewing the Church from Its Lutheran Core) by Kelly A. Fryer - chapter 4 - "Everyone is Welcome" - "When you confess with your lips and believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord, you better be ready for anything."

                           

I am hoping . . .  to drop a book off at my friend's this afternoon.

I am hearing . . .  "Hail Mary", an Easter musical composed and performed by a family we know.  It's a favourite for this season.  

I am going . . . shopping for a new mattress this week!  (Thanks, Mom and Dad)

Around the house and yard . . . some pots from last summer that need to be emptied, some branches to trim off trees and the Christmas tree to haul away.  

One of my favourite things . . . Chocolate Pumpkin Cake, baked by my sister :))

A few plans for the rest of the week . . .  laundry, a trip to take bags to the thrift shop, babysitting Blake (while Meadow, her parents and Grampa go an Oilers hockey game), starting some tomato seeds, a day of subbing and Bible study.
