Creating

Twice in the last few weeks I've had the opportunity to create cards with people dear to me.  It's always fun to come back to papercrafting.  I've gotten far away from it the last while, between quilting, grandchildren and gardening.

Here's the first batch that I created with Terri (thanks for the fun evening, T!).

And then my niece, Pam, is planning to help build a school in rural China sometime soon.

So a group of her friends organized an event and gave the proceeds to her fund, Change for China.  

It was great to see her and to help along with her dream in a little way.  And in the bargain, I got some lovely Christmas cards to send out.

Creating

I was desperate for some cards last week so I did a little creating.  In the process of moving things around on my table, I found a photograph that just needed a layout too :)  I used the leftovers to create the cards. The card designs were inspired by the Stamp It Vol. 9 issue of Papercrafts magazine.

The photo really doesn't do this one justice (the card itself is actually turquoise cardstock the colour of the chevron washi tape) - but I mailed all three of them off before I realized this was the only picture I had taken.  The hexagons are chipboard by Pink Paislee from the Nantucket line and the #2 made it perfect for a second anniversary card!

Five on Friday

1.  I haven't taken a ton of pictures but I still think I'll be able to document our week for my "Week In My Life" album.   I definitely have taken more self-portraits this week!

2.  It looks like spring has headed south!  Tomorrow's high is predicted to be a whopping +3 degrees C!

3.  I absolutely love this card by Leigh Penner!  She always creates pretty things!

4.  Our Mayday tree is breaking into leaf after the rain we've had this week.  I'm sure it will be blooming very soon - insert great big smile!

5.  I love the light in this photo!  The 500PX site is so inspiring!

Creating

Lately I've had fun creating and stamping several different cards that I'm going to put together as little gift packs to share with others throughout the year.  It's part of my gifting philosophy of "more handmade" for 2011.

Putting together ideas using new stamps and lovely papers resulted in some cards that I really love.  I hope they will be sent and received with great joy!

Just a little card that I created for a birthday.  The sentiment inside says, "Creeping by to say Happy Birthday to You".  The little guy on the bottom was cut out of the paper, mounted on black cardstock and then pop-dotted up.  Thanks for looking :)

Creating

Making a wedding card a few weeks ago led to using the same idea and creating 2 more cards.  The blue paper stands alone with its pattern and the circle paper proved to be more of a challenge on which to work.  Some days creating just this little bit of goodness makes me very happy!

Happy Thanksgiving to my American friends today!  May you enjoy friends, family and great food today!  We have so many reasons to give thanks.  Over at Shutter Sisters they posted this beautiful quote by Karen Krakoer Kaplan that says it so perfectly,
